Natural Language Processing(NLP) Team at CDAC Mumbai works on various problems in the area like, Machine Translation, Transliteration, Document Classification, Information Retrieval, Information Extraction, Opinion Mining, etc. It has developed many software solutions to handle language related issues in e-governance, m-governance, e-learning, Open Source, Tourism and Health Care domains. Our work has resulted into software solutions and publications at national and international level. It is one of the very few early groups in India which started working on NLP. Machine Translation System- MaTra and Cross Lingual Information Access(CLIA) System- Setu by this group are some of the very early systems in India in respective domains. Currently group is working on English-Indian Language Machine Translation (E-ILMT) Project Phase II and Knowledge Based Repository for FOSS in Education.

M Sasikumar (Senior Director) Cdac Mumbai centre head from 2017 August. Head of educational technology and language technology groups. Interaction with all CDAC centres and DeitY re R&D activities, core projects, etc.
